Some of my favorite scenes in game of thrones were the night-before-the-horrific-battle scenes… the mix of anticipation, hope, terror, resignation… all hanging still in the air, smelling of sweat and grime and blood and steel, everyone’s faces like stone made flesh, clutching at life and innocence, staring empty through the gauzy veil of death…
